Although pharaoh ants do not sting, they can bite! Once in the house, they feed on almost anything that humans consume.The infestation of the pharaoh ant is unpleasant for the occupants. In hospitals, this parasite can be a carrier of pathogenic bacteria. The pharaoh ant is particularly difficult to control because it moves its colonies rapidly.
The body of the Germanic cockroach is oval and flat; light brown with two dark brown lines on the thorax. The cockroach has long, slender antennae and long legs, and two pairs of wings. Cockroaches are 15 mm (3 / 4 inches) in length at adulthood.
Silverfish is an insect measuring from 9 to 13 mm long. The body is covered with silver scales and is shaped like a flattened cone with three hairy filaments at the end. The head has two long antennas and small eyes which are wide apart.
Bed bugs are tiny parasitic insects with flat oval shaped bodies and are 1 to 5 mm long. They are gray to reddish brown. The abdomen is the largest part of the total body and the head has two lateral antennas.
The earwig is identifiable by its long flat reddish-brown body that is between 12 mm and 19 mm long and the two clamps at the end of the abdomen. Earwigs prefer dark and damp places, such as under rugs and cushions, behind baseboards and in cracks, especially in the basement.
This rat measures about 46 cm, tail included. Its body is covered with gray-brown hair but its tail, smaller than the rest of the body is hairless. It mainly eats fruits, vegetables and meat.
This type of mouse is light brown to dark gray, and its tail is covered in very fine dark hair. It's head has a pointed snout, broad ears and two black eyes. In colder temperatures, mice often seek shelter in a warm home.
Fleas are tiny insects that are 2 mm and 3 mm long, and are brown to blackish. A pet that is constantly scratching may be an indication of fleas on its body. Flea bites show up as rows of small red dots on the skin.
In general, raccoons are not a danger to humans. However, they are very powerful and can attack or defend itself when provoked. Raccoons often cause damage by digging through garbage, as well as causing structural damage to get inside an attic or wall cavity, leaving behind their urine and feces.
